The Government Decision no 309/1996 regarding the granting of 50% reductions on the rates for local public transport, either above-ground or underground, as well as for domestic road, railway and naval transport for the benefit of pupils and students attending state education and accredited private education, with subsequent amendments and additions, provides:

for the pupils attending primary and secondary schools as well as for the students of state education and accredited private education, full-time courses, a 50% reduction on the rate for passenger trains, on the 2nd class, during the entire calendar year.

The tickets with a 50% reduction for regio trainsshall be issued at the cash desks of the railway stations and agencies based on the pupil’s card or the student’s card, respectively, for student transport reduction, to be endorsed to date for the current school/university year.

Pulils of the preparatory classes (zero grade) that do not receive the pupil’s card but only the certificate can purchase and travel with tickets of the pupil’s ticket type.

  • The students of the state university education, full-time courses, shall also be granted 24 simple trips during a calendar year, with a 50% reduction from the rate of fast and express trains, 2nd class.

The 50% reduction for interregio trains for students shall be granted at the cash desks of the railway stations and railway agencies based on the student’s card for transport reduction and the coupon book for the 50% reduction trip of students.

The50% reduction tickets for pupils and students shall be valid only when accompanied by the pupil’s card, for pupils, and the student’s card for transport reduction, for students, to be endorsed to date for the current school/university year. When checking the tickets on the train, their user shall submit both the 50% reduction ticket and the above-stated documents.

At the request of the checking bodies, pupils and students shall also submit an identity card in proof of their identity. The pupils attending the primary and secondary schools shall only submit their 50% reduction ticket and the pupil’s card.
