Law 189/2000 regarding the granting of rights to persons persecuted for ethnic reasons by the political regimes in Romania with effect from September 6, 1940 until March 6, 1945, provides for the law beneficiaries, annually, 6 round trips on Romanian railways, 1-st class, at all categories of passenger trains. These people are entitled to travel with a companion within the number of travels set out for the holder. The companion will travel under the coupon corresponding to holder, only accompanying the holder.
Travelling by rail is carried out with the travel card obtained under special coupons that are nominal, non-transmissible and annual. Special coupon consists of coupon body, six detachable coupons and six detachable attached-coupons, corresponding to six single journeys, respectively three round trips for railway transport.
The attached-coupons are used only for railway transport, in case the trip started with a train will continue with a train of higher rank or reservation regime or in case of continuing an interrupted trip with a train with reservation regime.
Travel at sleeping/berth car, or another route than the one stated on special travel coupon can be made only with full payment of the corresponding tariff differences.
Loss or damage of special free travel coupon by the beneficiaries of free travel tickets attracts the impossibility of performing free travel.
When checking tickets on train the beneficiary of free travels identifies himself with the identity card and special travel coupon. The special travel coupon with which the beneficiary of free travel identifies in the mean of transport is the pension coupon from the issuing month of special travel coupons.
Special coupons for free railway travel are issued and distributed by the National Pension House or territorial pension houses, with monthly payment of public system and/or allowances granted under Law no. 189/2000.
